What is Amendment C56mans about?

The amendment seeks to guide how buildings and developments look along the main roads leading into Mansfield Township. It aims to make sure that new developments match the unique style and character of each road and the vision for the town’s future. The amendment introduces new planning controls affecting the four main roads into Mansfield Township:

  • Maroondah Highway
  • Midland Highway
  • Mansfield-Whitfield Road
  • Mt Buller Road

Why is the Amendment needed?

This amendment is the next step in putting into action the suggestions from the Township Approaches Planning Controls and Guidelines Study (completed in June 2018). Some suggestions were not included in the earlier amendment (C48mans), so this amendment is including them. It also makes corrections to the rules in the existing Design and Development Overlay (DDO) Schedule 1 to match the objectives of the Mansfield Design Guidelines.

The amendment is based on recommendations from an independent panel that reviewed Amendment C48mans. Most of their suggestions have been included, with only small wording changes to make them clearer and to ensure they align with the overall vision for Mansfield’s future.
