The Mansfield Shire Council Asset Plan 2021-2031 was adopted by Council at the 28 June 2022 Council meeting. In the lead up to the 2024-25 budget process Council is now inviting members of the community to have their say on how more than $200 million worth of infrastructure and other assets are managed and maintained through a deliberative process.

The Road Management Plan, which provides standards for maintenance, repair and inspection of our roads is also currently under review and feedback is being sought in conjunction with the Asset Plan engagement process.

Assets identified in the Plan include transport infrastructure (local roads, footpaths, and shared paths), bridges and culverts, stormwater pipes and pits, buildings and structures and open space assets such as playgrounds, sportsgrounds, and outdoor furniture.

Council spends more on the maintenance and renewal of assets than anything else. Given that spend, it is important that we:

  1. Get input from the community to our approach for assessing and prioritising asset expenditure;
  2. Understand and respond to changing community needs;
  3. Engage over the challenges and opportunities.

The aim is to ensure the Asset Plan accurately reflects the community’s priorities, and to seek community feedback on what should be included.

    CLOSED: This discussion has concluded.

    The updated Asset Plan was adopted at the 21 May Council meeting, following a review of all feedback.

    The plan aims to allocate sufficient resources over the next 10 years to the types of assets our community most values.

    We have heard our community’s requests for more infrastructure and facilities including an indoor pool, playgrounds, recreation facilities, improved public transport, sealing more roads, upgraded public toilets and more footpaths.

    The plan has been updated to reflect these priorities and to help us maintain more of these types of assets. The final adopted Asset Plan is now available to view on this page.

    We’re grateful to everyone who contributed feedback.
