Have Your Say on the Draft Domestic Animal Management Plan

Thanks for your feedback

Thank you to everyone who took the time to provide feedback during our first round of engagement. We listened to what you told us, which has been valuable in guiding our understanding of the community's priorities. Your feedback and ideas have helped us prepare the updated draft Domestic Animal Management Plan, which is now available for final review.

This document is Council's four-year roadmap for managing domestic animals in our community. It outlines the programs, services, and strategies we will use to promote responsible pet ownership, balancing education with regulation.

The draft plan addresses all the requirements of the Domestic Animals Act 1994, including strategies to:
  • Encourage registration and identification

  • Minimise the risk of dog attacks

  • Manage nuisance issues like barking dogs and wandering cats

  • Address animal overpopulation

We are now releasing this draft for a final round of community review. This is your opportunity to see what is proposed and provide any final comments before the plan is presented to Council for adoption.
