Our concept design for enhanced stormwater and pedestrian infrastructure along Elvins Street is now open for community feedback.
We engaged with residents along the street in January 2025 to better understand concerns. Residents told us:
- Better drainage infrastructure is needed to avoid flooding and washout during extreme weather.
- Properties on Elvins Street are affected by water runoff from the golf course during heavy rain events.
- Speeding traffic is a concern.
- Adding a footpath is important for walkers, mobility scooter users and parents with prams heading into Mansfield and surrounding school networks.
Feedback from those discussions has been used to develop the proposed concept design. We're proposing:
-
Stormwater drainage upgrades: We're proposing improvements to drainage infrastructure to enhance water flow and reduce flooding. Our design proposes new kerb and gutter on sections of the roadway where there currently is none.
-
Footpath construction: A new footpath is proposed to be constructed along Elvins Street, improving pedestrian safety and connectivity while minimizing impacts on existing vegetation.
-
Speed reduction and management: We're proposing to install speed humps as shown on the plan to reduce speeding.
These proposals are subject to feedback from the community. Your feedback will help us decide on what to include in a final detailed design.
Construction of these upgrades is subject to funding. We expect to deliver the works in stages based on available grant funding.
You can view the design on this page or in hard copy at the municipal offices, 33 Highett Street, Mansfield. Head to the feedback tab on this page to share your thoughts, or write to us at council@mansfield.vic.gov.au or at Private Bag 1000, Mansfield VIC 3724.
We look forward to receiving your feedback by 9 June.
