The Mansfield Library Refurbishment Project has been funded with $543,511 from the Department of Jobs, Precincts and Regions in the 2020-2021 Financial Year through the Living Libraries Infrastructure Program.

After doing extensive research via visiting recently refurbished libraries across regional Victoria, Council has been working with architects to come up with the best possible new library design.

New designs have now been released for the Mansfield Library’s refurbishment project for public feedback.

About the new design

The new layout is designed to be welcoming, contemporary and engaging for all ages.

The natural design elements reflect Mansfield Shire’s unique character while creating points of interest for children.

The new layout is self-navigating and intuitive while retaining spaces for socialisation, study or remote work as well as meeting spaces that can be hired by the public.

Sustainability improvements include improved ventilation and temperature control, installation of new energy efficient lighting, double glazing and improved insulation, which will reduce energy use and operating costs.

Staff workspaces have also been enhanced, with increased efficiencies and safer spaces a key feature of the new design. The mural, donated by Ghadaba Local Aboriginal Network (GLAN) in 2014, has been incorporated into the new design and remains a significant feature of the library, celebrating language, culture and community.
