Consultation has concluded over a proposal to reduce the speed limit to 80km/h on sections of Piries-Goughs Bay Road. Council is continuing to consider feedback on the proposed speed reduction on Walshs Road.
The proposal was based on a petition from community members, which raised safety concerns relating to:
Pedestrians, cyclists, horse riders, cars, and caravans all sharing the roads.
Vehicles exiting and entering driveways amongst high-speed traffic.
Greater risks from increasing traffic during peak seasons.
A high crash rate reported by Victoria Police.
A 2023 community engagement survey on this page received evenly mixed responses, with residents mainly supporting the reduction and other road users expressing mixed views. Residents were also contacted directly for feedback, and all responses supported the reduction.
Further information on the outcomes for each road is available below.
