Background
The Mansfield Station Precinct Masterplan, adopted in October 2023, identified the need for a dedicated fenced off-leash dog park within the precinct. This initiative responds to community requests for safe, designated spaces where dogs can exercise and socialise freely off-leash.
A dedicated off-leash park provides a secure environment that meets the exercise needs of dogs while also protecting other park users and sensitive environmental areas, such as the nearby wetlands within the Station Precinct.
This project aims to deliver Mansfield's first purpose-built off-leash dog park, creating a valuable community asset for both residents and visitors with dogs.
What's Proposed in the Concept Design?
The draft design aims to create a fun, safe and accessible space. Key features include:
Secure Fencing: Fully fenced areas for safe off-leash play.
Separate Zones: Dedicated areas for small dogs and large dogs to ensure comfortable socialising.
Play and Agility: Fun equipment like ramps and rocks to encourage play and exercise.
Shade and Comfort: Utilising existing large trees for natural shade, plus seating for owners.
Amenities: Water stations for both dogs and owners.
Accessibility: Accessible pathways and entry points for all users.
This park is designed to support social connection, physical activity and wellbeing for both dogs and their owners.
