Help Shape the Future of Tree Planting in our Urban Areas
We want to hear from you! As part of our commitment to creating greener, healthier, and more attractive places, we’re planning next year’s urban tree planting program across the Shire — including parts of Bonnie Doon, Goughs Bay, Jamieson, Mansfield, Merrijig, and Merton.
Trees do so much more than beautify our streets and parks. They improve air quality, support wildlife, provide shade, and enhance community wellbeing. Each year, we invest in planting new trees and renewing ageing or unhealthy ones on Council-managed land.
New tree plantings: Adding trees where none currently exist.
Tree replacements: Replacing trees that are in poor health, structurally unsound, or nearing the end of their lifespan.
We will work directly with residents to select appropriate tree species for each location once they are finalised. Want to know which tree species we'll be choosing from? Check out our Urban Tree Planting - Species List - 2026.
Our proposed locations for street tree planting in 2026 are:
Ailsa Street (east side of Chenery Street)
Hunter Street (east side of Chenery Street)
Utlimo Street
Murphy Street
Curia Street (between Ultimo and Elvins, and between Highett and Apollo north side)
Highton Lane
Finlayson Street
Reynolds Street
Victoria Street
Elvins Street
Arnot Street
Jones Street

Urban areas are highlighted in blue. You can add as many pins in these areas as you like!
