FAQs
What is a structure plan?
A structure plan is a planning document that outlines the preferred development for a local precinct. Council generates an understanding on the preferred forms of development through the culmination of local stakeholder opinions with projections of social, economic and environmental impacts on the area. The objectives of a structure plan then form the basis for future policy decisions and funding towards the precinct’s development.
How will this plan affect me in the future?
The Bonnie Doon Plan will form a roadmap for future development in Bonnie Doon. The Structure Plan section of the Bonnie Doon Plan has a direct impact, via the Planning Scheme, on the appearance and function of Bonnie Doon.
Why create a structure plan?
The Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning states that structure plans formalise the sentiment and vision for how a community want to develop a precinct. The structure plan sits within the planning scheme as a reference document that directs Council planning decisions, gives private investors clarity as to the type of development that is wanted and can be used to help levy funding for government- led development.
What is a Community Plan?
A Community Plan considers a community's need for physical infrastructure and built environment, such as that which is incorporated in the Structure Plan. It also considers other aspects of a community: social, physical, economical and environmental. By developing a Plan for Bonnie Doon that considers Bonnie Doon as a whole, we set the tone and vision for the community and can make better decisions for the future of Bonnie Doon.
