A new small stage and amphitheatre is to be installed at Mansfield Botanic Park as part of a community-led project.
It is proposed that the new stage be dedicated to Joy Forrest in recognition of her significant contribution to the Mansfield community. The stage will provide a a new platform for local artists and performers and will support a wide range of cultural and artistic events.

Great initiative! A big hurdle for groups to perform is having to bring equipment (as stated by Music Vic). The stage should have power, lockable space underneath, space for ground and high speakers, and the option to make it more weather proof. Even if its not included now, it would be good to think about it now so the stage can be upgraded as more funding becomes available. In terms of location, there is a natural slope, I'm wondering if it makes more sense to invest more in the stage than in the amphitheater. Even the Myer music bowl has just a grass area. Council has a large number of chairs which can be used if needed. I assume sunrise and set has been taking into account (reducing glare) and where the production tent needs to be located in relation to the stage.
