2024-25 Budget Ideas
Council would like to hear from the community on priorities and ideas for consideration as part of the 2024-25 Budget and for Council’s 10 Year Capital Works Plan. To share your ideas, please complete our "submit an idea" survey at the bottom of this page.
In developing the annual budget Council works through what is required to operate business as usual, what is required to fund the annual capital works renewal program, and also considers requests received through the year from community that require a budget allocation. New budget initiatives or ideas are reviewed against their alignment to the Council Plan 2021-2025.
Council will consider all ideas submitted during development of the 2024-25 Budget prior to endorsement of the proposed budget for formal community consultation.
About the Budget
Council produces a budget every financial year to allocate funds for services and infrastructure used by the Mansfield Shire community.
The budget considers the strategic requirements of long term plans, such as the 10 Year Capital Works Plan, Long Term Financial Plan and Council's Asset Plan, which are reviewed every year as part of the budget process.
About the Council Plan and Asset Plan
Shortly after each election, Councillors work together to develop a Council Plan setting out the main strategic objectives for their 4-year term.
The current Council Plan runs from 2021 to 2025 and has 8 strategic objectives. Please take a look and see if your idea lines up with one of these objectives.
An Asset Plan was developed in 2022 in consultation with the community to keep our assets in a fit for purpose state that meets community expectations.

Future Engagement
Following development of the proposed 2024-25 Budget, Council will consult with the community again in April-May as part of the formal budget engagement process, providing a further opportunity to give feedback on Council's proposals.
Following that consultation, the final 2024-25 Budget will be presented to Council for endorsement at the Council meeting on 25 June 2024.
