Community consultation for the Fair Access Policy closed on Monday 26 February 2024.
The Policy was endorsed by Council at the ordinary meeting of Council on Tuesday 19 March 2024. A copy of the endorsed Policy can be found on the right hand side of this page or on Council's website.
Mansfield Shire Council is committed to ensuring our sports and recreation facilities provide equitable access for all people. Council has developed a DRAFT Fair Access Policy to address barriers experienced by women and girls in accessing and using community sports infrastructure.
The intent of this policy is to progressively build the capacity and capabilities of Council and community sporting organisations or clubs, to achieve fair access for women and girls in current and future planning and service delivery as they relate to community sports infrastructure.
This policy will also allow Council to continue to be considered eligible to receive infrastructure funding from the Victorian Government. This funding has previously supported the drainage improvements to Lords Reserve and Mansfield Botanic Park Playground Renewal.
How you can be involved
Your comments are important and will support the development of the Fair Access Policy and Action Plan. You can review the DRAFT Fair Access Policy (found on the right-hand side of this page) and leave your feedback below. The Action Plan will be created considering feedback received throughout this process.

As per the other comment - what does this actually mean in reality? We have inequity in facilities already - take a look at the footy clubrooms. Will this just be a piece of paper?

As with Jen - how is this going to be implemented? We already have inequity in facilities for female v male (seriously - look at the footy club rooms). What is the reality of this policy going to be?

This is a great step to gender equity in sport in Mansfield. What are the "next steps"? Action plan? Are we going to ask each user group to complete a GIA when re-negotiating user contracts?
