FOGO Roll Out

Council is seeking community feedback on the proposed areas for rollout of the green bins for collection of food and organic waste (FOGO).

Victorian Government legislated changes require councils to offer separate collection services for FOGO and glass. A FOGO (green bin) service will be introduced by Council in July 2024, however following community consultation undertaken in 2022, Council decided not to implement the glass service (purple bin) until 2027.

Deliberative engagement workshops have been conducted with community members from areas across the Shire to help develop the proposed areas for the FOGO green bin collection service. To see the proposed FOGO collection maps select your township to the right of this page under 'FOGO Documents'.

Please complete the online survey (available at the bottom of this page) on the proposed collection areas for rollout within each of the Shire’s townships. The survey, developed with the assistance of the deliberative panel workshops, will be open until 1 December 2023.

The proposed FOGO urban zones have been developed based on the following factors:

If your property is not located within the proposed FOGO kerbside collection area as shown on the maps you may still be able to opt in for a kerbside service, or will have the option to undertake home composting or utilise the Mansfield Resource Recovery Centre for disposal of your green waste.

Council are also seeking community input on the use of kitchen caddies and compostable bin liners.
