The future of Goughs Bay

About Goughs Bay:

Goughs Bay is a picturesque town nestled along the edge of Lake Eildon, with a strong community of residents and visitors who enjoy the natural beauty and recreational opportunities in and around the area.

The Goughs Bay Plan aims to create a welcoming and sustainable town by improving the natural landscape and built structures, enhancing accessibility and safety, and incorporating specific community-suggested ideas such as improved cycling and pedestrian paths, additional picnic areas, and community event spaces.

About the Integrated Water Management Plan

Integral to the Goughs Bay Plan is the Integrated Water Management (IWM) approach. This is a future-focused strategy that aims to:

  • Prioritize water quality in Lake Eildon, ensuring clean, safe water for all.
  • Use water resources sustainably, understanding the balance between nature, recreation, and daily usage.
  • Implement eco-friendly wastewater solutions to accommodate the growth of Goughs Bay without negatively impacting the environment.
  • Advocate for and ensure effective stormwater management practices, improving the resilience of Goughs Bay against weather events and preserving the natural environment.
