Consultation has concluded
Following extensive community consultation the final proposed location of a bronze horse and foal sculpture generously donated by Dr Will and Margie Twycross is the High St median strip opposite Eisner's Lane (as per below map). The rocks and town signage which currently occupy the space will be relocated to the other side of the footpath to make way for the sculpture, which will be centrally located in this prominent section of the median.
Community feedback on the horse sculpture was very positive, however the proposed locations shared on Council’s Engage page received mixed feedback from the community, leading to further consideration of the best location for the statue. Factors considered included visibility, safety, amenity, and the impact on events.
Council has been offered a very generous donation of a bronze sculpture featuring a horse and foal from Will and Margie Twycross (pictured right). The sculpture is proposed to be installed in the High Street median strip.
Council is seeking feedback from the community in regard to three possible locations in High Street for the sculpture. These options take into consideration the sculpture portraying an iconic image of the High Country, being the horse which is entwined in our local history, and proudly displaying it in a prominent location for the community and visitors alike to enjoy.
The three locations Council is seeking your feedback on are:
Option 1 - High Street median strip opposite the Commercial Hotel
Option 2 - High Street median strip near the horse trough monument
Option 3 - High Street median strip opposite George & Al Roy
