Changes to Recycling and Waste Services in Mansfield Shire
Consultation has concluded
Major new Victorian Government legislation will soon change recycling and waste services in Mansfield Shire.
After wide community engagement a green waste bin (with a green bin lid) with a fortnightly pickup will be introduced in the urban areas of Mansfield Shire from July 2024.
Only households that receive a green waste bin will be charged for this service, with the anticipated cost being up to $40 per year.

Council’s engagement also found that most community members wanted their yellow recycling bin collection to remain fortnightly once the green waste bin is introduced.
As part of this community engagement we tested whether the red general waste bin collection frequency should be varied.
However, the community was evenly split between those that wanted a weekly red general waste bin collection and those that wanted a fortnightly service.
