Frequently Asked Question

Response

Are sealing works supported under this funding program?

Sealing works on unsealed roads are generally not supported under this funding program due to the high cost associated with road sealing works. Council acknowledges the increased traffic volumes on Monkey Gully Road, and will continue to seek other grants that may support pavement upgrade and road sealing in future. Consideration will also be made to fund works from Council's Capital works program in future years

Can the scope of works be extended to include additional improvements if they are considered to provide further safety benefits?

The scope of works for this funding program is approved by the funding body. However, Council may consider additional improvements where there is demonstrated value and safety benefit.

Why is so much road safety signage being proposed?

Road safety signage is being proposed at locations where existing signage is missing, limited, or does not meet current standards. The signage is intended to provide advance warning to drivers of potential hazards and improve road safety outcomes.

Why is line marking being proposed without road widening on Monkey Gully Road?

Durable line marking is proposed to better define lane widths on sealed sections of Monkey Gully Road and assist drivers in maintaining their position within the lane. The line marking will also help provide a trafficable lane width consistent with current standards.
