Mansfield Shire Council is inviting the community to share their thoughts on the 'The Seat of Joy' rock artwork and its proposed location within the Mansfield Botanic Park. This Project is being led by the community group 'The Friends of Joy,' in honour of late Joy Forrest.

Joy Forrest was a passionate potter, which will be represented through the seats colourful mosaic and hand-made pottery decorations. This artwork will be designed and produced by a skilled local mosaic and ceramic artist from the Mansfield community.

The artwork is anticipated to be a significant feature within the Botanic Park, with the seat measuring approximately 200cm*60cm*60cm.

In September 2024, Council had previously invited community feedback on a proposal to install a stage in the Botanic Park in honour of the late Joy Forrest. That project was planned to be led by 'The Friends of Joy' through community donations and a Council contribution. The 'Seat of Joy' artwork will now represent the contribution from 'The Friends of Joy' to the park in place of the previously proposed stage. Council is continuing to progress plans for a stage separately.
